Brief history of Monopoly Lifesized

Monopoly Lifesized started as a fun, bold idea to bring the classic board game into the real world. The concept was announced in 2019 by Hasbro in partnership with Gamepath, part of the immersive theatre producer Selladoor Worldwide. The original launch planned for 2020 was delayed by the COVID‑19 pandemic, and the attraction finally opened in London on 14 August 2021 at Tottenham Court Road.

The experience takes everything you love about Monopoly, from walking around the board to buying properties and testing your luck, and mixes it with escape room-style puzzles and team challenges. With a full-sized 15 by 15 metre board to explore, it has become a hit for groups looking for fun, interactive gameplay and memorable social experiences.

Who built Monopoly Lifesized?

Monopoly Lifesized was created through a collaboration between Hasbro, the company behind the classic board game, and Gamepath, a division of immersive entertainment producer Selladoor Worldwide. The attraction was developed by a team from immersive theatre, tech, and escape room design, with creative producers Tom Beynon and Paul Mansfield leading the project and set design by Tim McQuillen Wright.

Inside, the space balances open game floors with detailed themed zones, lighting effects, and oversized props, bringing the feel of Monopoly’s board to life in an interactive way.
