Although now a cricket stadium, the Kia Oval has been used to host several sports throughout history. It famously hosted the first-ever FA Cup final and the first-ever rugby union international. The legend of the Ashes was also born at the Kia Oval London in August 1882. Australia won the game, with England bowled out for 78, chasing 85.
Peter May Stand
Peter May Stand at the Kia Oval London is named after Peter May, who led Surrey County Cricket Club to consecutive championships in 1957 and 1958 and won the Ashes in 1956. The stand was reconstructed between 2015 and 2016 and reopened in May 2016 when Surrey hosted Middlesex in a County Championship Division One match. After the reconstruction, the stand's overall capacity was increased to 25,000, with ancillary welfare and bar facilities added to the stand.
