The Thorpe hosts a collection of unique roller coasters. The UK’s fastest launch coaster, Stealth; the UK’s only winged coaster, The Swarm; the UK’s tallest coaster, Hyperia; and also a movie-themed ride, The Saw. Others include the Nemesis Inferno, an inverted roller coaster, and the Colossus with 10 loops.
On the Samurai, you’ll experience forces up to 5G as you spin around 360° on the ride’s mechanical arm 60ft in the air. The Vortex spins 15 rounds per minute at 65ft. The Zodiac is another gravity-defying ride that’ll put you upside down repeatedly. The Detonator is a 100-ft drop tower that plunges you down at 50mph.
Looking for fun rides with family? Ride the giant banana boat on Mr. Monkey’s Banana Ride. If that’s not for you, try your first-ever rollercoaster ride on the Flying Fish. Don’t forget to head over to the boardwalk at Amity Cove to hit a top score on the High Striker.
The Tidal Wave, one of Europe’s tallest water rides, plunges you into the water from about 85ft. Similarly, in the Storm Surge, you’ll find yourself in a spinning raft, spiraling from a height of 64ft. The Rumba Rapids and the Depth Charge are milder and allow younger visitors.
Thorpe Park has one of the best theme-based rides. The Walking Dead: The Ride indoor rollercoaster is one of a kind, with bunkers filled with the undead. Yet another ride is the Ghost Train. The physical effects on the train are accentuated with special effects and live actors.
Thorpe Park typically operates seasonally from March through early November.
