Windsor Castle is well worth a visit. Loved the dolls house, the audio tour and looking at the architecture/contents of the castle. We found the emails from Headout a little confusing. Some said we needed to print off the tickets, some said to use the app. We were a bit worried that it was a scam.

Everything is great, very nice and an excellent organization. Only I could not enter the St. George's Cathedral. Personally it is an unforgettable experience.

Comfortable bus. Driver Patrick and guide Chrissie friendly and Chrissie knew a lot about all the sights. Everything was well organized. Despite not being able to go to Oxford due to a blowout on the highway. Fortunately Patrick was able to stop the bus on an emergency lane. Waiting for new transportation took time and it was too late to go to Oxford. Even so, we were still on the road for 11 hours. We were to receive a refund from the bus company. This was also arranged the same day. Too bad v Oxford, can happen and handled well and quickly.

The sights were spectacular. I bought my ticket from the app, which did not make it clear that I had to buy another ticket to tour the Roman Baths, so all I did was walk around and admire the architecture of that pretty little city. More time needs to be given to the visit at Windsor Castle because I only had time to see two things: the chapel and Queen Mary's apartment.

The pass allowed for spontaneous planning and enabled easy access to multiple locations through one ticket. I loved the variety of options and how clear the instructions were.

This allows you to have a pass for several visits to sites and to plan your program simply. Our only disappointment concerned the tourist bus: the service provider included in the pass offered three not very practical circuits. We waited almost 1 hour to take the green route, and after a quarter of an hour it stopped for its break...

Windsor Castle | Visit the largest occupied castle in the world

Set off on an exciting day tour from London and visit Windsor Castle, home to the Royals. This majestic monument offers insight into Britain's rich history. Only 40 kilometers from London, Windsor Castle allows visitors to explore its stately interiors, including St George's Chapel, the Waterloo Chamber, the China Museum, and more.

About Windsor Castle

Things to know before booking your Windsor Castle tickets

  • Types of tickets: Since Windsor Castle is a popular tourist destination, tickets are often unavailable at the venue. Pre-book your tickets to guarantee entry to the castle. You can choose between standard entry tickets or tickets with transfers from London.
  • What’s included: The entry tickets include entry to Windsor Castle, access to the State Apartments, the Semi-State Rooms (Oct to Mar), St George’s Chapel, and a multimedia audio guide in Spanish, Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, and Russian.
  • Tours with transfers: Since Windsor Castle is a fair distance from London, tours with round-trip transfers in an AC coach are a great deal, saving you the hassle of figuring out travel logistics. You can either book a half-day tour from London or combine it with other towns or attractions like Stonehenge, the Roman Baths, or Oxford.
  • Guided tours: Windsor Castle is expansive, and you might miss a few highlights on the way if you’re exploring by yourself. Booking a ticket with an audioguide or a live guide will further enhance your experience, providing insights that may not be readily available. All day trips from London to Windsor Castle include an expert guide, allowing personalized commentary and a chance to get your questions answered.
  • Best time to visit: To enjoy Windsor Castle with fewer crowds, plan your visit for a weekday afternoon, ideally after the Changing of the Guard ceremony has concluded. This allows you to explore the castle at a more relaxed pace. Avoid the morning rush, particularly around 10 am, when coach tours tend to arrive. If witnessing the Changing of the Guard ceremony is a priority, plan your Windsor Castle visit to coincide with the event. While this period will be busier, especially during peak season, the spectacle is a must-see. To minimize further crowding, consider exploring the castle's interiors after the ceremony concludes, and aim to avoid the peak coach arrival time of 10 am.
  • Cancellation policy: You can cancel these tickets up to 24 hours before the experience begins and get a full refund.
  • Discounted tickets: Children under 5 years of age go free.

Visitor tips and guidelines

  • Changing of the Guard: Don’t miss the Changing of the Guard from the Guildhall, which happens on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 11am.
  • Recommended duration: Allow at least 2 hours to explore the castle and make the most of your visit, but 3 hours is best. The castle requires all visitors to go through an airport-style security check so allot enough time for this and avoid carrying any prohibited items or large bags.
  • Walking: The castle is at the top of a steep hill, and there is a lot of walking involved. We recommend you wear comfortable shoes.
  • Avoid Sundays: Sundays are not the best time to visit. St George’s Chapel, one of the main highlights, will remain closed to visitors on Sunday.
  • Seasonal openings: While the castle is open to visitors almost the whole year, note that some parts, like the State Apartments, are open seasonally. The State Apartments are open from March 1 to October 31, 2025.
  • Highlights you shouldn't miss: During your visit, make sure to look out for these artworks, monuments, and rooms: the Statue of Queen Victoria, the Round Tower, the Equestrian Statue of Charles II, the Waterloo Chamber, the Garter Throne Room, St. George’s Hall, Queen Catherine of Braganza fresco by Verrio, Charles I by Van Dyck, Elizabeth I by William Scrots, and Henry VIII by Holbein.
