We arrived at 10 and were lucky because a guided tour started at 10:15. There was also an audio headset to use for touring without the guide. Beautiful carriages, actually I should say remarkable, impressive, amazing carriages and so much history.

The tour was fantastic. The guide (originally from New Zealand) was very knowledgeable and made the information fun. It was planned really well in that we were able to see changing of the guard and Horse guard parade. Westminster abbey was also amazing. Would definitely recommend this walking tour.

Well organised very welcoming. Easy process. Very interesting and lots to see. The crowds weren't too busy when we visited. Gifts and food were on the expensive side.

We had an excellent tour with Lee. He was friendly and knowledgeable. The tour walked past some of the royal residences and onto Buckingham Palace all the while Lee was providing us with historical information and clever lil anecdotes. Highly recommended.

A private tour of Buckingham Palace

✔️ Expert insights

Your tour is led by a licensed guide with royal history credentials, fluent in your language, tailoring commentary to your interests.

✔️ Your experience, at your pace

Move freely without following a fixed group route. Private tours allow you to linger in front of the State Rooms or skip ahead to less-crowded areas.

✔️ Priority entry

Enjoy a seamless visit with skip-the-line entry included. Move directly into Buckingham Palace with your private guide, avoiding queues entirely.

What to expect on a private tour of Buckingham Palace

  • Meet your expert guide at the entrance: Begin your journey at the designated meeting point outside Buckingham Palace. Your expert guide (usually a licensed royal historian) welcomes you and outlines the tour’s personalized itinerary while ensuring a swift check-in process with skip-the-line benefits.
  • Explore the State Rooms at your own pace: Your guide directs you through the magnificent State Rooms, sharing insights about the royal family and the palace's history. Each room is explored with thorough explanations of art, decor, and historical context, transforming the palace into a living history lesson.
  • Customized route through Buckingham Palace: Your guide crafts a route based on your interests, whether that means focusing on royal history or exploring hidden gems rarely highlighted in group tours. Expect stories behind each artifact and unique behind-the-scenes details.
  • Flexible scheduling and special requests: Need extra time in a particular room or want to skim over an exhibit? Private tours offer flexible scheduling and customization options, ensuring that every moment aligns with your personal interests.

Meet your expert guide

Not just anyone can lead a private Buckingham Palace tour. Your guide is a licensed royal historian, often with advanced degrees in history or cultural studies, and years of experience bringing the palace's stories to life. They know the palace inside out, from hidden passageways to the best crowd-free timings, and subtle details that make the history unforgettable.

Expect more than facts. A private guide becomes a storyteller, curator, and conversation partner, ready to adapt the pace, depth, and focus of the tour to your interests. With them, Buckingham Palace feels less like a museum and more like a place of private discovery.
