Located about 22 km away from the city of London, you can reach Hampton Court Palace in a variety of ways. There is no underground station here so you will be unable to travel to Hampton Court Palace by the tube. However, the palace is well connected with other public transports.

A train to Hampton Court Palace is available every 30 minutes at the London Waterloo Station. You can also alternatively catch a train to the Kingston station and get a bus from here to the palace. A train ticket to Hampton Court Palace from London's Zone 1 should cost you about £6.

Fastest Way to Travel From London to Hampton Court

The fastest way to reach Hampton Court Palace is by car or taxi. It takes a mere 30 minutes to reach the palace, covering a distance of 22 km. The parking facility in the Palace is on a first come first serve basis for £1.60 per hour. You can rent from myriad car rental services available or hail a cab as well.

Directions to Hampton Court Palace

From Central London

  • Get onto A4 and then onto A316 towards Hampton. 
  • Continue straight until the A312 exit towards Heathrow Airport. Then, turn left to get onto Hampton Road.
  • Continue for about 2 km and then take a left onto Uxbridge Road.
  • At the corner, turn right onto High Street or A311.
  • In about 1.6 km, turn left onto A308. At the roundabout, take the second exit and then turn left to arrive at the Hampton Court Palace.

Travelling by car is the most convenient and the fastest way to Hampton Court Palace. The directions to the Palace make it easy to locate and parking is available on site.

  • Car Parking: Due to limited parking and the first-come-first-serve basis of parking, it is ideal to arrive in advance, especially during busy seasons when it is overcrowded.
  • Accessible services Parking- There are 9 disabled parking bay’s reserved on the site. Parking for Blue Badge Holders is free of cost.

  • Hampton Court train station: It is located 0.2 Km from the Palace entrance and the fluctuating prices are available on the National Rail Website.
  • Bushy Park: It is 2 Km from the Palace. As the prices are not constant you can visit their Royal Parks website for up-to-date information.
  • Kingston upon Thames: There are many public car parking options near Kingston, all of them within 5 km of the palace. 
  • Rose Car Park: 3.3 Km away and £3.60 per 2 hours.
  • Seven Kings Car Park: 3.4 Km away and up to £1.45 per hour
  • The Bittoms Car Park: 4.5 Km away and up to £1.80 per hour

Other transport options 

  • Motorhome or camper van: These vehicles need to park on Hampton Court Green as they are too big to fit the palace parking. Standard charges apply.
  • Bicycle: Cycle racks can be found on the left of the palace entrance and also in the car park next to Rose Garden.
  • Motorcycle: There are separate demarcated parking spaces for Motorcycles marked ‘M/C’. Standard rates apply.

  • The cheapest way to travel around London is by Bus. The London Bus network is well connected and therefore convenient as well.
  • Parking is on first-come-first-serve-basis, therefore coming early and reserving a spot is advisable.
  • The best time to visit the city is from March through May as the temperature is pleasant and flowers are in full bloom, making it an ideal time to visit the Hampton Court Gardens as well.
  • Taking outside food is allowed in the designated picnic areas in the Garden, but not in the palace itself.
  • Don’t forget to wear sunscreen to avoid getting sunburnt and to stroll around the palace hassle-free
