London Eye rules & regulations to know before your visit

The London Eye welcomes millions of visitors each year for panoramic views of London's skyline. Before your visit, it's worth knowing the attraction's rules. This page covers dress code, ID, security, accessibility, and other essential guidelines to help you avoid surprises.

London Eye rules and regulations

Dress code

There is no formal dress code for the London Eye. However, as the attraction is located on the South Bank, it's recommended to dress for London's changing weather, especially during colder months.

ID & ticketing

Carry your ticket and a valid photo ID when visiting, as you may be asked to verify your booking while collecting pre-booked tickets. Tickets are valid only for the selected date and time slot, so arrive on time to avoid missing your experience.

Boarding procedures

Arrive at the London Eye at your selected time slot and keep your ticket ready for inspection. Follow instructions from staff while boarding and exiting the capsule, and only board when directed to ensure a safe, smooth, and efficient experience for everyone.

Photography

Personal photography and videos are welcome throughout your ride. Mobile phones and cameras are permitted, but be considerate of other guests while taking photos. Professional filming or photography requires prior approval from the London Eye Press Office.

Food & drink

Bottled water is permitted onboard, but outside food, hot drinks, and alcoholic beverages are not allowed. Alcohol may only be consumed as part of selected VIP experiences offered by the London Eye.

Smoking

Smoking, including the use of e-cigarettes and vaping devices, is prohibited throughout the London Eye, including the boarding platform and County Hall. Please use designated smoking areas outside the attraction if needed.

Pets & assistance animals

Pets are not permitted on the London Eye. Certified assistance dogs, including guide, hearing, and service dogs, are welcome onboard to support guests with disabilities.

Accessibility & carers

Guests requiring assistance can book a complimentary carer ticket. You'll need to present valid supporting documentation, such as a CredAbility Access Card or Certificate of Visual Impairment, when entering the attraction.

Children & guardians

Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over throughout their visit. The accompanying adult is responsible for the child's safety and conduct while at the attraction.

Lost & found

If you misplace an item during your visit, report it through the London Eye's official Lost Property service by submitting an online request. If your belongings are located, the team will contact you with the next steps.

Pushchairs & buggies

Pushchairs and buggies are welcome but must be fully folded before boarding. They should remain folded for the duration of the ride to ensure sufficient space and safe movement inside the capsule.

Capacity limits

Each London Eye capsule has a maximum capacity of 25 guests for safety reasons. You must adhere to these limits and follow staff instructions regarding boarding and disembarking.

Restrictions at the London Eye

Weapons, sharp objects, explosives, fireworks, illegal substances, drones, skateboards, scooters, balloons, flags, banners, and alcohol (unless included as part of an approved VIP experience) are not permitted. All guests and belongings are subject to security screening before entry.
