We loved the state apartments, and we're lucky to be able to see the changing of the guard on Thursday morning. Also the neighbouring Windsor Yards was a nice surprise to eat and shop. The audio guide was very informative and the 'human' guides were very helpful and pleasant.

An unforgettable day trip with Chrissy & “Stan the Man”! We joined the full-day Windsor Castle, Stonehenge & Roman Bath tour from London, and it was absolutely fantastic! The meeting point is inside Victoria Coach Station — not outside on the corner as shown on the picture you receive beforehand — so make sure to go inside the building to check in. Our wonderful tour guide was Chrissy, and our driver was the legendary “Stan the Man.” From start to finish, Chrissy made the whole experience truly special. She’s incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and has a wonderful storytelling voice. Throughout the journey, she shared tons of fun side facts, interesting history, and added just the right touch of humor that kept everyone engaged and entertained. The tour was very well organized — all entrance fees were included, which made everything super convenient. We visited Windsor Castle first, then Stonehenge, and finally the Roman Baths. Do keep in mind that at each stop, you don’t have a huge amount of time to explore every detail in depth — but that’s completely understandable, as it’s a full-day tour covering several major highlights. We found the time at each location to be just right for getting a great overview. A small tip: bring some snacks or lunch with you, since there isn’t much time for proper meal stops. You’re allowed to eat and drink on the bus (just no hot drinks or warm/strong-smelling food). All in all, it was a wonderful and memorable experience. A huge thank you to Chrissy and Stan the Man for making the day so enjoyable! We would absolutely book another tour with Evan Evans again anytime.

Everything is great, very nice and an excellent organization. Only I could not enter the St. George's Cathedral. Personally it is an unforgettable experience.

That's what we needed: I think that paying the single ticket isn't sometime worthy for some attraction but the London ticket prices was fair enough.

The history while traveling was awesome. Very friendly and helpful. Definitely not enough time at each stop though. I would have liked to just doing Stonehenge and the caves with more time.

Top things to do in London

If you want to experience Britain’s royal heritage and the mysteries of prehistoric times in a single day, a Windsor Castle and Stonehenge tour is ideal. One destination immerses you in centuries of monarchy, while the other transports you back thousands of years, allowing you to walk among the iconic stone circle and imagine life in Neolithic England. Together, they provide an unforgettable day trip from London.

Things to know before booking your Windsor Castle and Stonehenge tickets

  • Book in advance: Windsor Castle and Stonehenge are among England’s most visited attractions. During busy periods such as weekends and summer months, tickets can sell out fast. Booking online at least a few weeks ahead removes the stress of last-minute planning.
  • What’s included: This full-day guided Stonehenge and Windsor Castle tour from London includes entry to Stonehenge, round-trip AC coach transfers from central London, an expert guide, and an audio guide available in over 12 languages.
  • Upgrades: Make your visit extra special by adding entry to Windsor Castle’s State Apartments and St George’s Chapel for a closer look at some of the castle’s most stunning interiors.
  • Combo tickets: One of the best things about combo tickets is the flexibility. You can tailor your day to match your interests — dive into history at Windsor Castle, explore the mysterious Stone Circle at Stonehenge, explore the Roman Baths in Bath, or admire the historic colleges and spires of Oxford.
  • Bath: On tours that include Bath, step into a city of Roman heritage and Georgian charm. Explore the Roman Baths, stroll across the iconic Pulteney Bridge, and admire the grandeur of Bath Abbey. Wander the picturesque streets for photo opportunities and soak up the historic ambiance.
  • Oxford: If your tour includes Oxford, discover the “City of Dreaming Spires.” Visit the historic colleges, admire the stunning architecture, and stroll along cobblestone streets steeped in centuries of academic tradition.
  • Accessibility and comfort: Both Windsor Castle and Stonehenge offer accessible paths and restroom facilities. Wheelchair users are welcomed, and carers often travel free. Bath and Oxford are also walkable with accessible routes, ensuring a comfortable experience for all visitors.

What’s the best way to go about it?

Individual tickets

  • Best for: If you love exploring at your own pace and don’t like sticking to a strict schedule, individual tickets are perfect.
  • Pricing & value: Buying tickets separately gives you flexibility, but it can get expensive fast. Adding up Windsor Castle, Stonehenge, Bath, and Oxford entry fees, plus figuring out transport between them, takes both money and effort.
  • Availability & reservations: These are some of England’s busiest attractions. Weekends, school holidays, and summer months get particularly crowded. Booking early online is the safest way to make sure you get the day and time you want.
  • Experience flow: Going solo means you’re in charge, but it also means you have to plan everything — travel times, parking or train tickets, and navigating each city. Without a solid plan, you might find yourself skipping parts of Windsor Castle, Stonehenge, Bath, or Oxford just to stay on schedule.
  • Recommended ticket: Windsor Castle Entry Tickets

Combo tickets

  • Best for: If you like having your day planned out so everything flows seamlessly, combo tickets are perfect. You’ll visit Windsor Castle and Stonehenge all without worrying about transport, tickets, or timing.
  • Pricing & value: Combo tickets are excellent value because they include entry fees, transport, and a knowledgeable guide in one package. Compared to buying tickets separately for Windsor, Stonehenge, Bath, and Oxford, you save money and skip the hassle of coordinating multiple bookings.
  • Guaranteed entry & easy scheduling: With a combo ticket, your day is fully organised. Round-trip AC coach transfers from central London take you to each location while your guide ensures you see all the highlights at Windsor Castle, Stonehenge, and optional stops at Bath or Oxford.
  • Flexibility: Even though the day is structured, you can go at your own pace. Spend more time at Windsor if you love royal history, linger at Stonehenge for photography, or take a leisurely stroll through Bath’s streets or Oxford’s quads.
  • Recommended ticket: Windsor Castle & Bath Day Trip or Windsor Castle & Oxford Day Trip

Making the most of your Windsor Castle and Stonehenge experience

Timing your visits

  • Windsor Castle: 10am to 5pm (March–October), 10am to 4pm (November–February). Last admission 1 to 1.5 hours before closing. Closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
  • Stonehenge: 9:30am to 7pm (summer), 9:30am to 5pm (winter), with last entry two hours before closing.

Morning (fewer crowds)

Begin early at Windsor Castle to explore the State Apartments, St George’s Chapel, and Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House before the crowds build. Arriving before 11am gives you the chance to see the Changing of the Guard in a quieter setting and capture serene photographs.

Afternoon (golden light and activity)

By early afternoon, Windsor Castle grounds buzz with activity, but the real magic awaits at Stonehenge as the stones catch the golden light. Wander the paths around the stone circle, and take in the green lawns and reconstructed Neolithic houses. If your tour includes Bath or Oxford, the afternoon is also perfect for city sightseeing, enjoying historic streets, architecture, and lively atmospheres while the sun is still high.

Evening (magical ambience)

Late afternoon casts a warm, golden glow across Windsor Castle’s facades, perfect for a leisurely stroll along the Long Walk. At Stonehenge, the setting sun stretches long shadows across the plains, giving the stones a truly mystical presence. Both Windsor and Stonehenge look enchanting in their own way, making this the perfect time for photos and quiet reflection.

Local tips

  • Breakfast near Windsor: Start your day right with a hearty breakfast or a quality coffee at Bill’s Windsor or Cinnamon Café. A good meal will set you up for a full day of exploring.
  • After Windsor Castle: Take a relaxing stroll along the Long Walk to soak in scenic views of the castle and its grounds, or enjoy a riverside meal at The Boatman or Gilbey’s. It’s a great way to pause and savour the atmosphere before heading to your next stop.
  • Pre-Stonehenge: Arrive early at Stonehenge to make the most of your visit. Check out the exhibitions and step inside the reconstructed Neolithic houses before the crowds arrive. This is the best time to immerse yourself in ancient history and capture some quiet photos.
  • After Stonehenge: If your tour includes Salisbury, Bath, or Oxford, take the opportunity to wander through the charming streets, grab a relaxed meal, or enjoy a peaceful evening stroll. Each city offers its own unique vibe, from Roman heritage in Bath to historic colleges in Oxford.
  • Photography tips: For Windsor Castle, aim for early morning or late afternoon when the light is soft and flattering. At Stonehenge, sunrise, sunset, or golden hour gives dramatic shadows and incredible photo opportunities. Don’t just stick to one angle — walk around the stone circle to discover different perspectives and compositions.
