It was super exciting, and the tour really is full of magic. It's an unforgettable day. The only thing I would improve is the audio guide, because when you enter the different spaces, it doesn't always sync up, and the people in charge speak very quickly in English. So if there's one thing they could improve, I think it would be that. If you know a little bit of the language, it's enough to not use the audio guide. I used it for about an hour and then took off my headphones. Even if you don't understand 100%, I feel like you enjoy it more that way. It's still spectacular. Hogwarts is open, I want my letter!!!

Duration too short. Planned duration 7 hours, actual duration 6 hours. The first part on screen should be offered in translation on the audio guides.

Harry Potter studio in London I Explore the iconic film sets up close
Real sets, real props, real magic! With Harry Potter Studios London tickets, you’ll explore everything from the Hogwarts Express to Aragog’s lair, right where the films were shot. It’s a behind-the-scenes look at the craft that turned a book series into blockbuster cinema.
Why go to Harry Potter Studios in London?
1/6
Step inside the world of Harry Potter
The studio tour offers a full behind-the-scenes experience inside the original filming location. Learn how each scene was crafted using real sets, visual effects, and detailed production techniques.
Walk through the actual film sets
Every set is the real thing, not a re-creation. Visit iconic locations from the films, including the Hogwarts Express, Dumbledore’s office, the Great Hall, the Forbidden Forest, and the Potions Classroom, each filled with original props and finishing details.
Participate in interactive wizarding activities
Kids and adults alike can complete fun challenges like collecting stamps in a Potter Passport or spotting hidden golden snitches across the studio, encouraging a more hands-on and playful experience throughout the visit.
Get a taste of butterbeer and other themed dishes
Start with Butterbeer pancakes and other hot foods at the Food Hall, grab a glass of Butterbeer at the Backlot Café, and enjoy some sweet treats at the Chocolate Frog Café. If you’re planning ahead, definitely book the Hogwarts-style dinner or Afternoon Tea in a Great Hall-inspired setting.
Shop for unique magical souvenirs
You’ll find multiple gift shops packed with studio-exclusive items, including detailed replicas, themed apparel, and collectibles. It’s the best place to pick up meaningful souvenirs tied directly to the films.
See what’s new every time you visit
The studio constantly refreshes its displays, so returning fans always have something different to see. In autumn, the Dark Arts event fills the sets with eerie lighting, floating pumpkins, and Death Eater duels. At Christmas, Hogwarts in the Snow brings snowfall, decorations, and festive Hogwarts scenes.
Things to know before booking your Harry Potter Studios London tickets
Travelling from London: The Studio is about 40 km from central London. Most tickets include round-trip coach or train transfers. Coaches are a smoother option than trains, offering direct access without platform changes or added walking.
Pick-up locations:Coach tours depart from central London locations like Victoria Station, King’s Cross, Baker Street, and the British Museum. Train tours typically depart from Euston Station. Some packages also include hotel pick-up and drop-off.
Guided tours: Once at the Studio, you can choose a self-guided visit or join a small guided group. Guided tours offer deeper insights and storytelling, while self-guided formats let you explore at your own pace.
Crowd-free tour: Skip the crowds with an early access ticket that lets you explore the sets before regular hours. The ticket includes a 4-hour visit and round-trip transfers from London for a smooth, relaxed experience.
Combo offers: You can also book combo experiences that include the London Eye, Madame Tussauds, or the London Dungeon. These packages are convenient and more budget-friendly, with round-trip transfers included.
Theatrical show: Harry Potter fans can extend the experience with tickets to the Cursed Child play at the Palace Theatre. It’s best for ages 10 and up and has limited flashing lights on stage.
Go day tripping: Take your passion to the next level by booking a tour that combines the Studio visit with a guided walk through Oxford. Visit iconic locations like New College and the Bodleian Library before exploring the magic at the Studio.
Explore the sets at Harry Potter Studios in London
The Great Hall
The first major set built for the films, the Great Hall features original house costumes, stone floors from a real monastery, and centuries-old-style banquet tables. It’s where key moments from sorting ceremonies to seasonal feasts were filmed.
Created with 19 trees, detailed bark textures, and floor roots, this set brought to life key forest scenes. From Harry meeting Buckbeak to encounters with centaurs, everything here was carefully designed to feel wild and unpredictable.
This full-scale set features cobbled streets lined with shopfronts like Ollivanders and Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes. Look closely at the hand-painted signs and crooked buildings that made this chaotic shopping street feel truly alive on screen.
Platform 9 3⁄4 scenes were mainly filmed at London’s King’s Cross, but the Studio houses a detailed reconstruction with the real locomotive, themed station props, and movie-accurate train compartments used for on-board filming.
Built with aged glass and wooden frames, this greenhouse set features practical effects like wriggling Mandrakes and shifting vines. You’ll also spot potion ingredients scattered among the soil-covered tables and hanging planters.
The Hogwarts Bridge
Although never shown in full in the films, this wooden bridge was specially built for Prisoner of Azkaban. It was used in exterior shots, with the dramatic Scottish Highlands often added using green screen.
Gringotts Wizarding Bank
From the towering marble columns to crystal chandeliers, this full set recreates the goblin-run bank’s imposing scale. The Lestrange vault, complete with multiplying treasure, is also included and looks just as it did in the film.
Dumbledore’s Office
Home to the Sorting Hat, sword of Gryffindor, and shelves of magical items, Dumbledore’s office combines Gothic design with academic clutter. The set’s aged wooden surfaces and spiral staircases reflect his wise but enigmatic character.
Other things that you can check out
1/5
Props
The Studio showcases incredibly detailed props like potion jars filled with butcher bones and dried herbs, hundreds of memory vials with handwritten labels, and a joke shop machine that theatrically dispenses Puking Pastilles, magical sweets that cause fake vomiting. Every piece was made by skilled artists and designers.
Costumes
From Hermione’s layered Yule Ball gown to the sporty Quidditch gear and Beauxbatons’ iconic blue uniforms, the Studio showcases original costumes designed to reflect each character’s personality, setting, and storyline. Every detail, fabric choice, and accessory has a purpose and a story.
Special & visual effects
Though it looks like CGI, the Chamber door’s moving snakes are fully mechanical, created to open onscreen without visual edits. The invisibility cloak’s green lining made characters vanish in post-production. You can try a similar effect using green screen and broomstick rigs at the Studio.
Creature effects
See how lifelike creatures were brought to screen using giant animatronics and expert handcraft. From a 30-foot serpent with slithering jaws to a spider needing 15 puppeteers, each magical beast was built with astonishing detail using feathers, fur, prosthetics and real animal references.
Art department
You can see how artists built an entire world using models, sketches and handmade props. The enormous Hogwarts castle model alone took 86 people to create and features real plants, lights and even miniature stonework inspired by historic castles and the Scottish Highlands.

Cash machine: A cashpoint offering free withdrawals is available inside the lobby. Useful if you need cash for food, souvenirs, or extras during your visit.

No going back: Once you begin the tour, you won’t be able to return to the lobby area.
No smoking or vaping: Smoking, vaping, and e-cigarettes are not permitted anywhere on site.
Once you enter the Studio Tour, you can’t return to the lobby. So if you are hungry at the start of your tour and want a proper meal (the Food Hall has hot meals and coffee), do it before starting the tour.
The Harry Potter Studio app has an interactive map and info, but the handheld digital guide (available to rent) features exclusive behind-the-scenes interviews and facts not found on signage.
There’s a massive Studio Shop at the end of the tour, which is way bigger and better stocked than the lobby one. Save your shopping urge till the end!
Take photos in the Great Hall, but be quick! You only get around 10-20 minutes inside the Great Hall, and it’s the only area with a guide and timed viewing. Take photos immediately, then soak in the details.
The green screen photos/videos cost extra. Want to “fly a broom” or “ride the train”? They’re fun but not free. Decide in advance if you're doing it, so you're not caught off-guard at the booths.
There are no toilets inside some major sets (like Diagon Alley or Gringotts), so go when you see one, especially if visiting with kids.
Combine your Harry Potter London Tour with a London City Card to see even more movie magic.
